Amor Espera, which translates to "Love Waits," began as a heartfelt journey during the pandemic when David and Alexandra discovered their shared passion for winemaking. What started as a hobby quickly evolved into a labor of love, marked by trial, error, and an unyielding commitment to learning. From their first experimental batch to perfecting the craft, they immersed themselves in seminars, certifications, and countless hours of hands-on practice.

Their dream took root in St. Matthews, South Carolina, on a ten-acre property. Here, they saw an opportunity not just to grow a vineyard but to create a sanctuary of sustainability, biodiversity, and community impact. Their philosophy is simple: to make wine as natural as possible and to preserve the health of the land, their consumers, and themselves.
A Vineyard with Purpose
David and Alexandra’s vineyard is more than a business; it’s an ecosystem. The property features over 500 vines with over eight varietals of vitis vinifera, hybrid, and muscadine planted in March 2024. Their focus on natural sustainability is the root core of every wine they produce. Companion planting to help deter pests and monitor vine health, while using the natural elements to maintain health of the vines. Creating mitigations to ensure organic quality of the highest degree. Even the low-sulfite winemaking process reflects their dedication to purity and balance.

They envision their vineyard as a hub for connection, a place where people can experience the story of love, patience, and harmony with nature.​ The founders of Amor Espera’s diversification reflects their experimental spirit and deep respect for the land’s offerings.
Looking Ahead
As Amor Espera continues to grow, the focus remains on thoughtful expansion. The recent purchase of a barn marks a step toward a fully operational winery, and the biodiversity project extends beyond vines, with plans to grow olives, avocados, and coffee to create a truly holistic environment.
